Andrew Wright is a highly experience chartered town planner with particular experience and expertise in the local plan system.  He has worked with a large number of local planning authorities as a critical friend, a trainer and in wider support.

As a consultant to POS Enterprises, Andrew developed and updated the original soundness self-assessment toolkit for the Planning Advisory Service, which continues to be used successfully by many LPAs.  He led the team which prepared the SHLAA guidance for the CLG; and was a member of the team which prepared the report to CLG “The role of councillors in planning decisions”.

In addition to his own practice, Andrew is General Manager and head of consulting for POS Enterprises, the delivery arm of the Planning Officers Society, and has carried out a wide range of local plan support commissions on their behalf.

He had a successful career in local government before entering consultancy, as both a Chief Planning Officer and Director at a Midlands authority.  This included managing major planning proposals for large scale employment development, including successfully supporting a 170 ha project for a freight terminal and employment area in the Green Belt.
